Pregnancy DiscriminationPregnant women and their right to have children and build a family while maintaining employment are protected against discrimination under federal and state laws against on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or medical conditions relating to their pregnancy.

Pregnancy discrimination can occur before, during, and following your leave in some of the following ways:

  • Demotion
  • Removal of responsibilities or reassignment
  • Termination
  • Interference with Family and Medical Leave or paid maternity leave
  • Poor performance reviews resulting from pregnancy or leave related to pregnancy
  • Other discriminatory acts or treatment
